Over 80 High Halden residents have signed a petition against this development (see planning application 17/00952/AS). There are other more suitable sites within High Halden which are being proposed for planning. This plan is already behind the times with this development and others submitting planning applications before this plan is agreed. Ashford Borough Council needs to be able to justify these applications on all levels, and many local people feel corners are being cut in order to comply wi

Dear Whom it may concern, Policy S33 - High Halden - Land at Hope House (MC37) I live in High Halden. It's such a beautiful area around here, but you are just spoiling it with all the new builds. Everyone who actually lives here HATES it. But do you care? No, you just want the money. What are you going to do about all the extra traffic everywhere? The doctors, the schools? I want my daughter to go to a school which is not full to the brim and I want to be able to actually get an appointment

The increase from 25 to 35 does not seem justified and will make it harder to integrate this new estate into the village. Exit onto the A28 which will already be a challenge will be far worse with the addition of a further 10 houses.

Policy MC37 S33 High Halden (Page 139, Para 4.335) Highways and transportation The County Council has previously made it clear that it cannot support a reduction in the speed limit along the A28 past the site to 30mph, as there is no frontage development along this part of the A28. The site promoter has however now submitted an outline planning application for the site and proposes suitable visibility splays for the current speed limit of 40mph. A dropped kerb pedestrian crossing is being promo

High Halden Parish Council has met twice to discuss the Main Changes in the revised draft of the Ashford Local Plan to 2030, with considerable input from parishioners. We have major concerns at the level of development being proposed in our village and its effect on our heritage. High Halden as a village straddles the length of the A28 road for approximately 3 kilometres, standing between Bethersden and St Michaels, Tenterden. We are keen to maintain our identity as a separate village and welco

The plan is not sound because it is not justified in relation to other plans for the village area. This application for planning should not be considered in isolation, but put on hold until the bigger picture is clear, as there may be more suitable and safe options than this and our village certainly does not require nor is able to support an additional 240+ properties (see list below)! The following proposals have been raised since this site was included in the ABC 2030 proposal last year: * A

* High Halden has been allocated too many houses by ABC (Over 8% of the Borough's needs is unfair) * Infrastructure - primary school, doctors, hospital, drainage, traffic - inadequate * A28 Access - road already overloaded. When Chilmington Green and TENT1 are finished it will be overcome. Pollution!! * Rural traffic which is essential; combines & grain trucks need to use this road too. * Green field and agriculatural land should not be used for housing - land will be needed after Brexit - w

Whilst previously I was supportive of developing an effective scheme on this site that is no longer the case. The enlarged site and increase in the number of dwellings is NOT appropriate for this area of the village. Previously the supporting text of this policy clearly included a link to the "confines" of the village, and now talks about "on the edge of the confines" which sets precedent of expanding the confines of the village and appears contrary to other policies, e.g HOU 4.
