4.126 Seriously concerned that the focus for the town centre developments seems to be on flats. They are cheaper to build and pack people in, and so are attractive to developers, but are not the best solution for vibrant mixed communities where families can thrive. Also, older people looking to downsize quite often want private gardens - so who are these flats for? London commuters? Leaving London is about gaining space, not taking on a £7k commute and still living in a box! And where's the plan

4.22-23 Yes, with alternatives considered. Cobb Wood link road for example. Not convinced all will head for J10. Impact on Hythe Road and Canterbury Road. 4.32 Ok, what about school places for all the kids born to young couples in town centre flats?

5.195 Ashford should be trying to attract an Ikea click and collect store!

HOUSING * SP1 c and 3.34 Sustainability issues: highest quality design is great, sustainability in terms of rainwater harvesting? What about roads wide enough to allow both for parking and driving? Repton shows that this is a significant issue; there are known to be problems with parking and access for buses in this area. What about link roads into town? Queues already bad on A28 Canterbury Road and Hythe Road - how will the extra residents of Kennington access the town centre and station? * 3

4.132 and 4.140 So more residential to go on the Jemmett Road and Ashford South School sites. Jemmett Road provides essential parking for Victoria Park, and parking places are already hard to come by for residents. So whatever is built there, parking is essential. Roads access is currently poorly surfaced and complicated.

4.204 and 4.205 and 4.207 Survey by all means, but recognise that arriving up to 30 minutes before an appointment in case you have to wait for a car to leave the car park is not a sensible way to run a car park. If you are ill or have broken limbs, cycling and walking to the hospital is not really an option.

5.413 Loss of a youth theatre, without alternative community theatre space, is a blow to the otherwise thriving arts scene. Couldn't a community theatre be established near the Elwick development? 5.419 Would murals be welcome?

4.9 So no requirement for Ashford Bowling to move right now, but possibly in future if Ashford is successful? The multi-storey car park thing is a real issue - it should be being down NOW, because if they keep selling Ashford as commuter heaven, there will be more commuter cars to accommodate!

PROMOTE HIGH QUALITY DESIGN * 3.166 It would be great to have a commitment from the council that any proposal from developers for the town centre that seeks to use the style of South Ashford to claim that whatever they want to build should be acceptable should be told to go away and think again. Respect is needed for the townscape when new buildings are being proposed. 3.171 Exactly. Repton. 3.172 One housing estate in Hampshire that I visited had 25 closes named with A-Z street names (no X)
