Overall we are pleased to note that matters of interest to us have been addressed and as such we consider the sound. We do however, have a few comments to make and suggested amendments for clarification purposes. Policy ENV4 - Light Pollution and Promoting Dark Skies Policy In the text preceding the policy, there is reference to the fact that light "in all areas of the Borough, obtrusive external lighting can result in harm to residential amenity and to the diurnal rhythms of biodiversity". Light Pollution The 'glow' of Ashford should be restricted as much as possible and the dark skies of the rural areas protected. Meaning that any proposed developments on the outskirts of Ashford (Sevington, Kingsnorth etc) should have restrictions imposed to prevent further negative impact.

The attached document outlines our concerns in Part 1, Section 4 that our Parishioners have found it extremely difficult to comment on the Plan. Thus we consider that question 4 is flawed as we do not have professional legal or planning knowledge. Part l also looks at the policies which we consider are UNSOUND. Part two of the attached document places objections to two sites in Kingsnorth Parish, S3 Court Lodge (page 50) and S4 Land north of Steeds Lane and Magpie Hall Road (page 55) which we c

The dark skies are a great pleasure for Newenden, and a significant factor for the attractiveness of the parish both for its inhabitants and for tourist visitors. Indeed, we have historically resisted the introduction of street lighting and similar potential sources of light pollution. We note that the proposed Dark Sky Zone stretches as far as nearby Wittersham, but does not currently include Newenden. Following a meeting of villagers on 13th July, which unanimously supported this suggestion, w

This is an excellent policy and is broadly supported by CPRE. Two amendments are, however, proposed. It is requested that the following text is added to the end of the second paragraph of the policy: '….and that no significant adverse effects individually or cumulatively will result to the character of the area, the residential amenity of local residents, the safety of vehicle users and pedestrians, or the feeding, roosting and breeding activities, or the diurnal rhythms of the Borough's biodiv
