Policy SP1 – Strategic Objectives
It is suggested locations such as Charing that are acknowledged by ABC to be suitable for residential
allocations (paragraph 4.296) should be the focus of housing development owing to their sustainability. It is
not appropriate to impose an arbitrary control on the amount of development in these locations.

The attached document outlines our concerns in Part 1, Section 4 that our Parishioners have found it extremely difficult to comment on the Plan. Thus we consider that question 4 is flawed as we do not have professional legal or planning knowledge. Part l also looks at the policies which we consider are UNSOUND.
Part two of the attached document places objections to two sites in Kingsnorth Parish, S3 Court Lodge (page 50) and S4 Land north of Steeds Lane and Magpie Hall Road (page 55) which we c

2.0 VISION AND STRATEGIC OBJECTIVES
2.1. We consider the Vision for the plan positively addresses the different roles of settlements by
highlighting the focus at Ashford supported by development at Tenterden and other key rural

different locations for growth and this provides a helpful spatial focus to the vision. The spatial
strategy chosen is supported by the findings of the Sustainability Appr

We support draft Policy SP1 and in particular sub-section (g) which seeks:
To provide a range of employment opportunities to respond to the needs of business, support the growing population and attract inward investment.
With respect to Pickhill Business Centre and draft policy S25, the Council's past support for development has resulted in a highly successful business centre responding to local business needs, which is reflected by the existing provision being fully occupied. My client receiv

The identity and attractive character of the Borough's rural area, with its range of attractive settlements, wealth of heritage assets and its expansive countryside, including the Kent Downs AONB to the north and the High Weald AONB to the south, will be protected and enhanced.
Discussion: The Parish Council welcomes this explicit recognition of the intrinsic value, character and beauty of the countryside of the Borough as a whole, not just the protected landscape areas. However, this paragraph

We support the Strategic Objectives of the Local Plan outlined in Policy SP1. In particular we support the
objective to provide a range of employment opportunities to respond to the needs of business, support the
growing population and attract inward investment. It should be made clear that significant weight in the planning
process should be given to development proposals that are consistent with these objectives.
