Egerton Parish Council wishes to make the following comment - Policy ENV 14 permits development in Conservation areas provided they preserve or enhance the character and appearance of the Area, and para 5.402 includes scope for further enhancement and possible boundary changes in Conservation areas across the Borough. Egerton Parish Council should be consulted about any proposed change of Egerton’s Conservation Area and be actively engaged in this process. Also, any gaps in Egerton’s existing Conservation Area where there is open agricultural land should no longer be excluded from the Conservation Area zone, as any development proposed on that land is adjacent to or sandwiched between parts of the Area and can have an obvious adverse impact. Also, more consideration should be given to areas just outside of Conservation areas. Just because the Conservation Area boundary stops on a tight line should not mean that the Conservation Area is immune from an unwelcome impact. The aim should be to set a higher standard all-round.
