Quick Guide to Using the Design Code
The Design Code is written primarily to help the designers of land parcels at Chilmington Green. The Code sets out an 11 step process to inform the design of residential layouts, streets, open spaces and architecture. The Regulatory Plan provides all the mandatory requirements, on a single scalable drawing, that must be adhered to in order to achieve the vision for Chilmington Green. The structure of the key on the Regulatory Plan also follows the structure of the 11 steps process contained in the Design Code. The requirements of the Regulatory Plan are set out in more detail within the Design Code and therefore these documents must be read in conjunction. A simple instruction manual note on how to read the Regulatory Plan in relation to the Design Code through the 11 step process is set out in Part A-Background on pages 17-18.
