Gating of the Churchyard Public Spaces Protection Order Consultation
Ashford Borough Council is seeking your views on the proposed renewal of the Public Spaces Protection Order (PSPO) for the gating of the Churchyard (see the map on the following page). PSPOs are legal tools introduced under the Anti-Social Behaviour, Crime and Policing Act 2014 to help councils tackle persistent anti-social behaviour (ASB) issues that negatively impact the quality of life in public places. They are designed to ensure that everyone can enjoy these areas safely and responsibly.
Your feedback is essential. This consultation gives you the opportunity to share your views on the proposed renewal of this PSPO. The responses will help shape the final decision and ensure that the PSPO reflects the needs and priorities of the local community.
Please read the accompanying information carefully and complete the questionnaire by the closing date. Together, we can make Ashford’s public places safer and more enjoyable for everyone.
Restrictions
The PSPO relates to the public footpath which leads from Churchyard Passage at its junction with the High Street and as shown in blue on the map below.
The effect of this order is to restrict the public right of way over the restricted area between the hours of 9:15pm Thursday to 6am Friday, 9:15pm Friday to 6am Saturday and 9:15pm Saturday to 6am Sunday.
The alternative route for pedestrians will be along Tufton Street into Bank Street and then into the pedestrianised High Street. This is shown on the map with a red dotted line.
