Welcome to this consultation on Ashford Borough Council's Parking Vision and Strategy 2026-2030
Ashford Borough Council is inviting residents, businesses, and community partners to share their views on our draft Parking Vision and Strategy for 2026–2030. This strategy sets out how we will manage parking across the borough over the next four years, ensuring it supports the way people live, work, travel, and enjoy our towns and neighbourhoods.
Parking plays an important role in daily life. The way we design and manage our parking spaces influences how easily people can access local shops and services, how safe and welcoming our town centres feel, and how we encourage more sustainable and healthier ways of travelling. Our aim is to create a parking system that works for everyone; one that is modern, accessible, safe, and environmentally responsible.
The draft strategy outlines four key priorities:
Clean, safe, accessible, and well‑located car parks that are easy to use, well‑maintained, and designed to support our communities and local economy.
Active travel to support wellbeing, encouraging more walking, cycling, and sustainable travel choices through better facilities and infrastructure.
Sustainability and climate action, helping reduce emissions, supporting the switch to electric vehicles, and ensuring future investment aligns with Ashford’s climate goals.
Supporting town centre regeneration and business growth, ensuring parking contributes positively to vibrant, thriving local areas where residents, businesses, and visitors feel supported.
Consultation
We want to ensure this strategy reflects the needs and experiences of the people who use our parking facilities every day. Your feedback is essential in helping us shape a service that is fair, forward‑thinking, and fit for the future.
We invite you to read the draft parking vision and strategy and share your views as part of this public consultation. Together, we can build a parking system that supports a cleaner, healthier, and more connected borough for years to come.
We ask that feedback is received by Monday 16th February 2026.
