Tenterden Urban Public Spaces Protection Order Consultation
Ashford Borough Council is seeking your views on the proposed Public Spaces Protection Order (PSPO) for Tenterden Urban (see the map on the following page). PSPOs are legal tools introduced under the Anti-Social Behaviour, Crime and Policing Act 2014 to help councils tackle persistent anti-social behaviour (ASB) issues that negatively impact the quality of life in public places. They are designed to ensure that everyone can enjoy these areas safely and responsibly.
This PSPO is proposed in order to address behaviours that have been identified as causing nuisance or harm to the community, such as persons being in possession of devices capable of discharging a projectile, vehicles being used in an anti-social manor and the use of e-cooters and persons using foul or abusive language. These measures are part of our ongoing commitment to reduce anti-social behaviour (ASB), improve community safety, and maintain a welcoming environment for residents and visitors.
Your feedback is essential. This consultation gives you the opportunity to share your views on the proposed PSPO and the full restrictions as well as suggest any additional issues you believe should be considered. The responses will help shape the final decision and ensure that the PSPO reflects the needs and priorities of the local community.
Please read the accompanying information carefully and complete the questionnaire by the closing date. Together, we can make Tenterden’s public places safer and more enjoyable for everyone.
