PLEASE NOTE THIS CONSULTATION HAS NOW CLOSED.

Ashford Borough Council has started work on the statutory review of its Local Plan, which will primarily set the strategic vision and planned growth for housing and jobs within the borough to 2042.

As part of the Local Plan process, the council is inviting landowners, developers and other interested parties to submit sites that they own, or suggest land that may potentially be available, for inclusion in the Local Plan.

The Call for Sites consultation ran from Monday 18 August until Monday 13 October 2025.

What sites can you submit?

A broad range of sites can be submitted through the Call for Sites, including:

  • Housing
  • Gypsy, Traveller and Travelling Showpeople accommodation
  • Employment
  • Community uses,
  • Tourism,
  • Energy Generation
  • Nutrient neutrality mitigation land, and
  • Biodiversity Net Gain.

To be considered in the Housing and Economic Land Availability Assessment (HELAA), sites must be capable of accommodating 5+ dwellings or economic development on sites of 0.25 hectares (or 500 metres of floorspace) and above. They could include vacant or derelict land, or opportunities for strategic conversions or extensions to existing buildings.
