Call for Sites
Ashford Borough Council has started work on the statutory review of its Local Plan, which will primarily set the strategic vision and planned growth for housing and jobs within the borough to 2042.
As part of the Local Plan process, the council is inviting landowners, developers and other interested parties to submit sites that they own, or suggest land that may potentially be available, for inclusion in the Local Plan.
The Call for Sites consultation runs until 5pm on Monday 13 October 2025.
The Council is also inviting submissions of sites as Local Green Spaces. Please note this has a specific site submission form below.
What sites can you submit?
A broad range of sites can be submitted through the Call for Sites, including:
- Housing
- Gypsy, Traveller and Travelling Showpeople accommodation
- Employment
- Community uses,
- Tourism,
- Energy Generation
- Nutrient neutrality mitigation land, and
- Biodiversity Net Gain.
To be considered in the Housing and Economic Land Availability Assessment (HELAA), sites must be capable of accommodating 5+ dwellings or economic development on sites of 0.25 hectares (or 500 metres of floorspace) and above. They could include vacant or derelict land, or opportunities for strategic conversions or extensions to existing buildings.
Local Green Space
The council is also inviting site submissions for Local Green Space. Please note this has a dedicated site submission form. As part of the submission, you will need to provide justification for why the site should be considered.

All comments must be submitted to the council by 5pm on Monday 13 October 2025.

Please note sites submission as part of the 2023 Call for Sites were originally given the prefix HELAA/LP41. This has been updated to HELAA/LP42 to reflect the updated Local Plan period. (Any references to HELAA/LP41 should read HELAA/LP42).
